Exciting new National roles for two members of our team

We’re proud of two of our team members, Jack Liddle and Gary Young, for securing National secondments.
Jack Liddle, Development Officer, has been recruited by Sport England to work on behalf of the three North East Active Partnerships – Rise, County Durham Sport and Tees Valley Sport to work with community groups and sports clubs across our region and encourage them to access Sport England’s crowdfunding opportunities, predominantly through the Places and Spaces fund – a £7 million pot of National Lottery funding, which aims to help community groups and sports clubs either improve or create facilities in their local area which will help the community keep active. The fund makes awards of up to £10,000 through match funding via the Crowdfunder platform.
Jack’s new role sees him as the main contact for North East organisations who are looking to start a campaign and will provide continuous support and feedback where needed from campaign inception, right through to the campaign going live on Crowdfunder. He’ll also be carrying out research into potential barriers that may prevent organisations from accessing crowdfunding opportunities whilst working with a national team on assessing funding bids from across the whole of the UK.
Similarly, Gary Young, Development Manager (Active Lifestyles), takes on a new secondment as the Multi-Sports Network Manager in partnership with Sport England and the Football Foundation to provide additional capacity within the Active Partnership network to strengthen the relationship between local delivery and Sport England’s ‘Uniting the Movement’ Strategy.
Gary’s role covers the North East, Cumbria and Yorkshire and the Humber regions, maximising the impact of Sport England’s targeted investment into community football, tennis and multi-sports facilities, alongside the Football Foundation. Over the next three years, the investment aims to deliver 300 new PlayZones (small community spaces for sport and physical activity) across the UK.
Gary’s working week will be split between two days a week in the new secondment role with the remaining three days dedicated to his current role at Rise within our Infrastructure and Environment team, focusing on Adapted and Assisted Active Travel.
